Hello all, and welcome to my new blog; Buy My Skaven Army!

Ever since I was a little kid, I loved the game Warhammer. I had all the original editions and used to play games full of the old school, first version goblin wolfriders and Snotling pumpwagons. However, I always had, in my heart, a real place for the Skaven. Nasty, cruel, gossipy, and able to rule the world, if they would just stop killing each other... I always loved them.
So eventually, I got myself a nice little skaven army, which can now be yours!

Welcome to The Warband of Lord Stryke, Skaven Lord of Clan Sykk!

This average size Skaven army has five large units of infantry and plenty of support.

First up; Lord Stryke himself. A massive, black furred Skaven warlord, Stryke is heavily armed, clad in heavy, red gold mail and is the war chieftan of Clan Sykk. He is armed with a sword and a nasty pike, and carries reminders of his conquests on his back, including the bronzed skull of a defeated orc chieftan! A real nasty Lord for the army.

Next up; Grey Seer Talonth. This Grey Seer is rather unique in that he is devoted to Clan Sykk, and even Lord Stryke... well, at least as devoted as a skaven can be;) His use of the shadowy, nasty Skaven magic can really put a hurting on the opponent.

Next up; a few of my hero-level guys... including a Clan Skyre Warlock. This guy is all about the ranged magic, and echoes some of the colors of Clan Skyre. The other hero of this group... Dread Priest Skolth. He is shown here with a few of his attendant Monks, including the standard bearer of the unit of Plague Monks. Their standard? A crucified Averlander, a captured sacrifice from my best friend's Averland army.

Finally, at the top of the food chain, above even the Clan Lord himself, is that embodiment of the Horned Rat on earth... the Vermin Lord. This customized brute is able to go toe-to-toe with any of the greatest heroes of the land and come out on top. When you really need to kill someone bad, this is the fellow to turn to.

But of course... Skaven armies are not all about the heros! You need rats... lots and lots and lots of rats!

We will start at the top of the food chain; the massive Black Rats, the elite storm-vermin of Clan Sykk. These 30 man-killers are the meanest rats in the den, and heavily armed and armored. What is most unique is these guys are also well-trained, as Lord Stryke is a militant rat!

Next up... the Plague Monks. These 20 frenzied lunatics, devoted to the Horned Rat, are among the scariest of enemy troops to face. They will not run, they will not stop... they exist only to slaughter everyone. Lead by a Plague Priest they can become almost unstoppable. On an aside; these are some ESPECIALLY nicely painted fellows!

There are also two huge units of 30 clanrats apiece. First up; the Rats of Clan Sykk. The warriors of Clan Sykk are well armed and fierce, as you might expect from the dominant Clan. They have taken on, as their symbol, the Split Rat, who reflects both the ferocity of the blackest of rats with the wisdom and cunning of the whitest of rats, the Grey Seers. Of special note; lesser Sykk warlord Chief Mufune, carrying a very special banner... A vicious group of rats.

There is also a submissive clan of rats in the warband, the Rats of Clan Mors. A Clan Mors stronghold, taken by Clan Sykk, was taken under rule and must send troops to Clan Sykk as payment. These guys, not quite as big or dominant as the rats from Clan Sykk, are nonetheless vicious and dangerous in a fight, especially as there are so many of them.

Of course, Clan Sykk has destroyed rival clans, and the survivors of those are used to shield the Warband troops. This rag-rag group of slaves, comprised of defeated skaven and even an enslaved rat ogre, is thrown in front of the advancing rats of Sykk and Mors, used to soak up ranged damage so the stronger rats can close with the enemy. They are not even trusted with iron weapons; their weapons are all bronze, which is cheap and easy to produce and is not a very effective weapon with which to launch a revolt!

Shielding the entire attack, of course, is thousands and thousands of rats! There are six swarms of rats in the
army. These guys are the perfect way to tie up enemy units, as it is hard for ANYONE to slash their way through hundreds of thousands of rats! The largest, warp-stone mutated rats are herded like rabid wolves in two large units towards the enemy, missiles doing little to slow them down.

Clan Skyre, having been paid well by Clan Sykk, also contributes troops to the Warband. First off is six antique Jezzails. These long, warp-stone fueled muskets are ideal for slaughtering self-absorbed enemy heroes. These are the best jezzails ever, as they are not over-the-top but rather sleek, deadly weapons! The rats manning these guns are dressed in the traditionally bright Clan Skyre colors of red and yellow, the colors of their weapons' flames!

Clan Skyre also provided a Warpfire thrower for the army. This deadly weapon is able to obliterate enemy units before they can even get close in a firey, chaotic cloud of flames. As with all of the Clan Skyre rats, the team is decked out in the traditional yellow and red "flame" of the Clan.

Also supporting the army are a trio of Plague Censer bearers. These lunatics can be thrown in front of the most heavily armored enemy and will still lay them low, thanks to the toxic warp fume clouds they spread around the battlefield.

So that is Lord Stryke of Clan Sykk and his Skaven Warband! It is a nice little collection, put together with a bit of a background in mind. I went with some older models and some newer ones, as I think that some of the older models (the Plague Monks, the Jezzails, the Warpfire Thrower) are simply nicer than the new ones.

I will also include with this army a full boxed set of unassembled Clanrats, movement trays for almost all the units (grassed to match the army) and seven or eight more undercoated Plague Monks, if you really want that unit to have 30 men.

So if you would like to purchase The Warband, please let me know! They will be going onto eBay in a few days, and I'll post that link here. So in the meantime... let the Vermin Lord point the way towards more enemies to slaughter!
